Photo Album of Eleanor Wakaruk
Stuartburn, Manitoba, Canada Photographs
by Mary Katherine May, daughter of Eleanor Wakaruk
This photo album is offered to family and friends of Eleanor who lived with her grandparents, Sam and Wasylyna Gorman (German) in Stuartburn, Manitoba until 16 years, when she came to Minneapolis to work.
Mom cared deeply for her roots and the people with whom she lived with in this small community just north of the U.S. border.
I welcome comments as well as photos related to this page.
The photos are not to be sold or used for profit, but are freely offered for download to those who have roots with the Ruthenian homesteaders who came from Halychyna (Galicia, Ukraine) at the very end of the nineteenth century.

ReplyDeleteIf I find some information on them I will contact you through here. I would like to read about Rose's recollections of WWI and the revolution. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteThank you for posting these pictures, some of which contain my father and aunts. Also, a cousin or two. My only comment is grouping them all in the same date range 1943 and 1944 where some appear earlier and a few later. All are fun to look at and remind us of our heritage and the community they grew up in.
